Ryan Huemmer

Ryan Huemmer (he/him/his) is a theatre artist hailing from Cary, North Carolina. Growing up, he went through a slew of occupational dreams: first a Mad Scientist, then a Private Investigator, followed by an Air Force Pilot, a FBI Agent, a Forensic Psychologist, a Genetic Engineer. His passions knew no bounds! Choosing between such a vast array of promising careers was an impossible task. So rather than make such a difficult choice, Ryan instead decided to pursue all of his many passions by becoming… an actor!

Ryan will graduate from Boston University this Spring with a BFA in Acting and a concentration in Musical Theater. Ryan has been fortunate enough to play a diversity of roles during his time at BU ranging from Joe Pitt (Angels In America: Part II) to Eiliff (Mother Courage) to Joe Ryan (When the Rain Stops Falling). During his training at BU, Ryan discovered a passion for movement and physical theatre that led him to pursue various alternative movement disciplines including, but not limited to: Trapeze, Lyra, Aerial Silks, Capoeira, Contemporary Dance, Stage Combat and Commedia Dell’Arte. Ryan aspires to continue pursuing movement intensive means of artistic expression post graduation.

In addition to his training at the School of Theatre, Ryan will graduate from BU’s Kilachand Honors College, a unique program that encourages interdisciplinary learning, discussion and problem solving. For his Honor’s Senior Thesis, Ryan has been constructing a Documentary Theatre piece exploring Cross-Cultural definitions of happiness devised from interviews and conversations he had while backpacking through 17 different countries. He hopes that come April, when it premieres, the final product will be a performance that both acknowledges the privilege of happiness while highlighting its simplicity.
